Dortmund identify En-Nesyri as Haaland replacement
With Norwegian star forward Erling Haaland on the cards to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season with several potential suitors, the German outfit have reportedly identified a blossoming African striker as his replacement.
Youssef En-Nesyri has been on the minds of Borussia Dortmund fans quite a lot in the past week. EuroSport reported that the 23-year-old Moroccan striker has been selected as a potential replacement for the likely outgoing Haaland.
We got to see En-Nesyri shine at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday when he scored a late consolation brace as Sevilla were eliminated from the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Since Sevilla triggered the 189 cm striker’s release clause with Leganes last season, En-Nesyri has bagged 25 goals in 65 appearances.
His brace against Dortmund brought his UCL tally for the season to six goals, a record high for a Moroccan player in a single UEFA Champions League campaign.
En-Nesyri - who has 35 appearances for the Moroccan National Team, the Atlas Lions - was closely linked to a move to English Premier League outfit West Ham United in the most recent winter window according to the The Athletic, but their £27 million bid was rejected by the Andalusians.
He currently earns roughly £50k-a-week (Salary Sport), it is not hard to imagine that a team the stature of Dortmund could tempt him with much higher wages.
